The goal of this change is to make the game more realistic and to reduce player lifetime. Many establish teams have a pool of
good older players. Increasing the effect of ageing will decrease the number of these players and increase the team management challenge. We hope that it is going to increase the interaction between GMs.

Current situation:
     * 35 years old and older will lose 10% of toughness per year (mobility for goalies) per year
     * 37 years old and older will lose 10% of handling per year (reflex for goalies)
     * 39 years old and older will lose 10% of defensive skill per year (handling for goalies)

Situation at the end of next season:

1) Toughness
     * 34 years old will lose 5% of toughness per year
     * years old and older will lose 10% of toughness per year
2) Handling
     * 34 years old and older will lose 1% of handling per year
     * 36 years old will lose 5% of handling per year
     * 37 years old and older will lose 10% of handling per year
3) Checking
     * 34 years old and older will lose 1% of defensive skill per year
     * 37 years old and older will lose 5% of defensive skill per year
     * 39 years old and older will lose 10% of defensive skill per year

Situation après la saison 34 pour les gardiens

1) Mobility
     * 34 years old and older will lose 5% of mobility skill per year
     * 37 years old and older will lose 10% of mobility skill per year
2) Reflex
     * 34 years old and older will lose 1% of reflex per year
     * 36 years old will lose 5% of reflex per year
     * 37 years old and older will lose 10% of reflex per year
3) Handling
     * 34 years old and older will lose 1% of handling per year
     * 37 years old and older will lose 5% of handling per year

So just to confirm .. this will get applied after this upcoming season?

EDIT: Also, as an addition, checking degrades MUCH quicker than handling and toughness. I ran the numbers and this is what I found:

1) Say a player as 300 toughness

He would start losing toughness @ 36 w/ 300 points before loss.
Under this new system, by the time the player reaches 36, he has 285 points

LOSS: 5% lower than current.

2) Say a player as 300 handling

He would start losing handling @ 38 w/ 300 points before loss.
Under this new system, by the time the player reaches 38, he has ~279 points

LOSS: ~7% lower than current.

3) Say a player as 300 checking

He would start losing checking @ 40 w/ 300 points before loss.
Under this new system, by the time the player reaches 40, he has ~262 points

LOSS: ~13% lower than current.

I figure that the degradation should be kept equal to the other two stats (5-7%.) ~13% is far too much. To bring it in line with the other two, I suggest something like this...

"Checking
* 36 years old and older will lose 1% of defensive skill per year
* 38 years old and older will lose 5% of defensive skill per year
* 39 years old and older will lose 10% of defensive skill per year"

This would make it equal out with handling @ ~7%. Toughness is okay at 5% in my opinion.

Otherwise, I don't mind the change per se... I just wish we had been asked for our opinion prior to implementation.

Here is the revised edition of the aging algorithm for the end of the season. The goal here is to increase the period of time where player shows sign of age as a first step. In the future, the aging effect will be more random for each player besed on different factors (genetic, number of injuries in career,...)

Situation at the end of this season:

1) Toughness
* 34 years old will lose 1% of toughness per year
* 35 years old and older will lose 10% of toughness per year
2) Handling
* 34 years old and older will lose 1% of handling per year
* 37 years old and older will lose 10% of handling per year
3) Couverture
* 34 years old and older will lose 1% of defensive skill per year
* 37 years old and older will lose 3% of defensive skill per year
* 39 years old and older will lose 10% of defensive skill per year

Situation at the end of this season for goalies:

1) Mobility
* 34 years old and older will lose 1% of mobility skill per year
* 35 years old and older will lose 10% of mobility skill per year
2) Reflex
* 34 years old and older will lose 1% of reflex per year
* 37 years old and older will lose 10% of reflex per year
3) Handling
* 34 years old and older will lose 1% of handling per year
* 37 years old and older will lose 3% of handling per year
* 39 years old and older will lose 10% of handling per year

I create an actual case to compare the effect of the change with an excellent player with 350 of handling, 200 of checking and 200 of toughness.

Current situation:
At 34: 350 - 200 - 200 -> 750 points
At 35: 350 - 200 - 180 -> 730 points
At 36: 350 - 200 - 162 -> 712 points
At 37: 315 - 200 - 146 -> 661 points
At 38: 284 - 200 - 132 -> 616 points
At 39: 256 - 180 - 119 -> 555 points

After the change:
At 34: 347 - 198 - 198 -> 743 points
At 35: 344 - 197 - 179 -> 720 points
At 36: 341 - 196 - 162 -> 699 points
At 37: 307 - 191 - 146 -> 644 points
At 38: 277 - 186 - 132 -> 595 points
At 39: 250 - 168 - 119 -> 537 points

OK Bob Now I'm confused. The first post showed Decreases of 1%/5%/10% and the second post showed Decreases of 1%/3% and 10%.

Which formula is the correct one?

Thanks, BK

The second set of algorithms would be the correct one.

I dunno. I'm still not 100% sold. It's not a huge overall difference. But as they say: "If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It."
