Finesse wanted to know who is in the rebuilding mode for their team. I admit that I am trying to rebuild my team the best I can, but I am not trying to lose games so I can get a high lottery draft pick.
I also admit that I do not play my veteran goaltender as much, because I am playing my young goaltenders to get some experience points. Last season, I traded my first pick for a goaltender.
What weaken my team is that I traded my best veterans players for draft picks. That is the reason why I have a lot of young players. I recently turned down a trade offer of more young players.

I have a feeling your team and your situation is not one he was referring to. I believe he is talking about teams that will simply play crappy Goalies and sit some star players just to play other weaker vets, in hopes of acquiring a better pick. If you are playing plenty of young guys, that's called rebuilding. What many teams have been doing over the seasons is not.

Who is he referring to then ??? We want names here
We are 7 teams back from last year, he's not talking about you, he's not talking about Copperheads according to you, and he's definitely not talking about his team (!!!), so who does that leave ???
If he's talking about me (I'd be surprised but you never know), I explained myself through and through in my last PR of last year.
I have a bunch of really older players and a bunch of younger players, almost nothing between the ages of 25 ans 32. So what I do is play my kids and rotate my veterans in and out. I think it's the way to go to have a chance to get better eventually.
I have a couple of lousy older wingers that I have to play once in a while because I need to put 9 in the lineup and because my guys are so old that they tire very quickly. I often dominate early in games and then crumble later when my grandpas are out of breath.
As for the top picks, what you can do is try to obtain them through trades. I did so last year, and I obtained Estacades' this year.
If I can trade for one last year and one this year (offering very fair deals - it's not like I get them for 34 year old wingers of 475 points, look at the winger I gave this year, it's top 5 material easily in any draft), so can anybody else ! Instead of giving up a 22 year old of 285 points (which you don't have, I understand that), you try another type of package !!!
I personnally have never lost on purpose during the regular season just to obtain a better draft pick, and I'm not gonna start now. Now, if everybody could put a beating on Estacades so his first pick becomes a lottery pick, that's something else...

I think what slicksly said is the norm when he said that he plays his youth to train and rotates his vets because they tire easy. I think that this should be a common sense approach by everyone. It also does'nt take a rocket scientest to figure out who's training a young goalie that will surely give up a lot of goals...
So after reading the Finesse press release I just chuckled because, rebuilding or not, playing the youth and rotating the vets is the only way to go through a regular season in Alpha Sim. Now lineups for the playoffs might be a different story...
Well that's my 2 cents worth.

A young goalie doesn't mean as much as you might think. A few seasons back, someone had a stacked team backed by a 22yr old goalie. Despite having him play 20 of 22 games, they still finished 3rd with ease.
If you have ample defense in front of your G, their deficiencies mean little.

I know that the Gladiators and the Warriors last year had good enough talent to compete, but simply chose not to. It seems that every year only a handful of teams decide NOT to throw games and go for the top picks. I've played since Season 20 or so, and have been competitive in all but 2 or 3 seasons.
Why is this getting so hostile? I was simply giving my take on another persons opinion.

Hostile ???
Where do you see hostility ?
If you're talking about my post, since no team names were mentioned, I have no way of knowing if I was one of the teams that you and Finesse were talking about, so I defended my strategy.
I've even put a Smilie when I asked about names , I wasn't expecting names because deep down I was pretty sure I was not one of the teams you were complaining about.
If you are not talking about my post, I didn't sense any hostility whatsoever from the others who posted after.
Anyway, if I had to choose between finishing first or second every year or losing on purpose to get a better draft pick, well I won't have to think long and hard about which one to choose

I should have never started this thread. I had no idea it would get this far.
But I was not trying to start any kind of trouble and everybody knows my team is one of the weakest in this league. I was just simply trying to explained what I was doing to my team.

Are there words written that I do not see or that have changed meaning recently because I see NOTHING in this thread that is hostile in any way shape or form (another Smilie just to prove my point !)

I guess the most brutal example of what I was talking about is Silverton. I understand he is playing his young goalie, but he is trying to lose games. Look at his strategies, standard? Obviously he's trying to lose to finish low, and I'm sure he'll use winning strategies once the playoffs start and he's in 7th or 8th place.
Look at Silverton's roster and then look at the Kids, how on earth could the Kids beat Silverton ever? LOL

Just had to trash me behind my back, eh? Such a punk. Kinda makes me want to get hostile on your ass. And you wonder why such a thing would happen, throw your hands up in the air, play all innocent like, and pretend you're not a provocateur?
Okay complainer, remember the time you bought that really lame prospect goalie that some other team had dumped on waivers like the trash it was and then you proceeded to throw games to get a top draft pick? Season 24 ring a bell? You were dropping games left right and centre, then once the season was done you loaded your roster back up to win the consolation cup... Remember?
I do.
And now you talk shit about someone else possibly taking a trick out of your basket? Not out of character in any shape or form for you, eh? Like I always said about you, hypocrite to the first order.
So shut your trap about me or I'll reenter this league next season just to wipe that smirk off your ass, uh, face. You play provocateur all too well, yet not a smart one. When you do this you look the buffoon all too well.
There's no hostility? Even when I'm absent for seasons Forest Fool just can't help himself but to start trash talking me. Hostile to the bone, he is.
Well, I just happened to check in and see you're up to your old tricks again, trashing someone else this time. If it's not me you attempt to oafishly bully, it's someone else. Just can't help yourself, eh?
Have a fun season with this jerk.
Before you fault me for whatever you're about to, consider that I think I'm just calling it like I see it.
