Welcome to Alphasim Hockey, a Web interactive strategy game, where your results do not, in any way, depend on the performances of professional NHL players or on your ability with a joystick. No! All you need to have success is an Internet access and hockey knowledge ...and some opponents that are not smarter then you are.
Alphasim Hockey represents the on-line version of our popular play-by-mail game, the World Electronic Hockey League (WEHL), played by thousands of enthusiast fans since 1991.
Alphasim Hockey is not a draft league, a hockey pool or a simulation based on statistics of professional players. Actually your first task as team owner, will be to create your own team from scratch. You do this by drafting virtual hockey players according to their age and talents. Talents for the skaters are : Handling (offensive talent), Checking (defensive talent), and Toughness. Talents for the goalies are: Reflex, Handling, and Speed . Then you choose your lineup and pick your strategies according to your opponent's team. You are now ready to play.... Ah... no! Not completely. Your team does not even know you yet. What are you going to do to give them your vision of the game, and build a good chemistry within the team.... with training, come on! The training sessions are planned before each match to give you a chance to let some steam off on your players and enter your strategies in their head.
It's your team, you decide on the names of each of your players, the color and the logo which will appear on your jerseys. If you are gifted, you could create your own team logo. If you have any doubts, pity, use a logo already made.... people who go on your team page will thank you. Since we are on the subject don?t hesitate to make up original names (team and players) and give your team a personality. In this virtual league you are responsible to do the promotion and public relations to attract spectators to your arena. Your opponent may be tempted to destroy you if your team is called the Chicken from Nerdcity!
Well basically, you are ready to play. There are 12 teams per league. The games are played twice a week, Monday and Thursday. There are 22 games per season + the Playoffs. There are 3 seasons per year so you play all year long. Each event is presented on your computer screen so you can analyze what happens and make adjustments to your strategies. If the adjustments are not enough to align at least one victory in a row, and you realize that you team is full of figure skating performers, you can trade them with other teams or use the free agents market.
